Independent Lab Tests For Air Purifier

The Sun-Pure SP-20 Air Purifier was submitted to independent testing laboratories for third party validation of performance.

Truesdale Laboratories, located in Tustin California was selected to test the Sun-Pure

SP-20 Air Purifier for particle removal efficiency, room air particle reduction, and ultraviolet intensity at 254 nm. This laboratory is certified by both the EPA and FDA to perform chemical, mechanical and microbiological testing to NSF and ASTM protocol.

Airguard Research and Technical Center, located in Louisville Kentucky was used to test the air purifier filters for toxic chemical removal and air flow resistance properties. Air purifier filters were tested to ASHRAE method 52.1 – 1992.

The Sun-Pure SP-20 Air Purifier was tested against real world atmospheric dust in an actual room environment as a complete product. This is important as most air purifier manufacturers pass along the ratings supplied by the manufacture of the HEPA media and never really test the filter as a finished product.

The following is a summary of test results:

1. The Sun-Pure SP-20 Air Purifier effectively reduced the level of airborne particles ranging in size from 0.3 to 5.0 microns by 97% to greater than 99%. These particles included fine dust, lung damaging dust, pollen, dust mites and tobacco smoke.
2. Operation of the air purifier unit in a closed room with a volume of 2,000 cu. ft. (room size of 240 sq. ft.) reduced air borne particle counts of 0.3 micron particles by 63% in a period of only 40 minutes.
3. Operation of the Sun-Pure SP-20 Air Purifier on an entire two-story home 2,350 sq. ft. in size showed a reduction of particles ranging in size from 0.3 to 5.0 microns by 77.8% to 95.1% in a 12 hour period.
4. The large air purifier filter size maintained an air flow resistance below 0.31 inches of water column at 90 cu. ft. of air per minute.
5. Reduction of organic hydrocarbons was implemented using high levels of toluene at 85 PPM. One part per million is the maximum contaminant level allowed in a chemical manufacturing facility by OSHA. Such toxic compounds would only exist in the part per billion ranges in a home environment for a point of reference. Even at elevated levels, the gas absorbing media of the air purifier reduced the toluene by 26% on the first pass through the filters.
6. Measurement of ultraviolet output in the 254 nm wavelength at a distance of 1 inch from the air purifier lamp indicated an average output of 11,700 microwatts per sq. cm. The energy required to kill most disease-causing viruses and bacteria is approximately 6,000 to 8,000 microwatts of UV light.

Manufacturer's SP-20 Air Purifier Limited Lifetime Warranty

Each Sun-Pure SP-20 Air Purifier comes with a limited lifetime warranty excluding expendable parts such as filters and UV lamp. This exceptional warranty provides for repair or replacement of any defective parts or components for two years from the date of purchase at no charge for labour or materials. Warranty work for the remaining life of the product will be provided with a maximum cost not to exceed $55.00 USD to the original owner. This warranty does not cover the expendable ultraviolet lamp, which must be replaced on an annual basis (1-year) or the expendable filter cartridge media, which also must be replaced on a biannual basis (2-years) or sooner depending on environmental conditions. All warranty repair work must be performed either at the factory or by a factory certified service center. Shipping cost to the factory or service center is the responsibility of the owner of the Air Purifier. Warranty return shipping from the factory is prepaid for the first two years only. This warranty is provided to the original purchaser of the Air Purifier and may not be transferred, sold or bartered. This product is not warranted against freight damage, failure resulting from misuse, connection to incorrect voltage, or natural disasters such as fires, earthquakes, or floods.
